TOKYO--At last year's Tokyo Game Show, Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Suda 51 unveiled an enigmatic trailer for a game for the Kinect called Codename D. The live-action teaser showed an unidentified man holding a baseball facing off against a group of evil-looking animal mascots. The baseball in the man's hand then burst into flame, causing the mascots to explode. It seems Codename D truly was just a codename for the game, with Grasshopper today unveiling the true name for the title, Diabolical Pitch, at a Tokyo Game Show event.
Diabolical Pitch for the Kinect is slated for release sometime in 2012 and can support two players. The game takes place in a freakish amusement park, where animal-headed humanoids are on the prowl. To attack these monsters, players must summon all their baseball prowess, making pitching motions with the Kinect to throw balls at enemies, as well as doing other motions such as catching, ducking, jumping, kicking, and swinging a virtual bat.
