Star Wars opens Galaxies to noobs

Gamers who missed the whole Star Wars thing or think that the Dagobah system is just too far away are in luck. LucasArts today announced a plan to make Jedi training a lot more cost-effective. The company, part of George Lucas' Lucasfilm Ltd. empire, announced Star Wars Galaxies: The Starter Kit, an introductory pack for the Star Wars Galaxies massively multiplayer online role-playing game universe, for $19.99.

The bundle includes content from the original Star Wars Galaxies (formerly titled Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided), the expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed, and "new material created for the game." Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts have completely redesigned the first 30 levels with a "simplified user interface and fast-action combat system." Players who purchase the Starter Kit will also get a unique X-Wing or TIE fighter and 30 days of free play.

In the game, players cruise through the Star Wars universe as one of several professions, be it a merchant, a Jedi, or a rogue scoundrel.

Stars Wars Galaxies: The Starter Kit will be released on November 22 and is rated T for Teen. For more information on the game, head over to GameSpot's reviews of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided and Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed.
