Hasbro Interactive's Roller Coaster Tycoon managed to grab the top spot in the most recent PC Data top-selling games list, despite having been released in the spring of 1999. The game puts players in the role of a theme park manager who must design roller coasters, coordinate employees, and keep the visitors happy. Roller Coaster Tycoon has been on the top ten best-selling games list almost continuously since its release, and its sales have been boosted by the release of the Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes expansion pack.
The second spot on the chart was claimed by Mattel Interactive's Barbie Pet Rescue, while the popular The Sims and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, both published by Electronic Arts, took third and fourth place, respectively. Another notable entry on the chart is Half-Life: Counterstrike from Havas Interactive, which came in at ninth place. The game was originally created as a multiplayer mod for Valve's popular action game Half-Life, and it was recently released as a stand-alone multiplayer game.
