Award-winning Heavy Rain composer Normand Corbeil has died, Quantic Dream said today in a statement posted to its website. Corbeil's first job with the company was co-composing the music for Indigo Prophecy. He served as the sole composer for Heavy Rain and had begun work on the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls. He was 56.
"Normand was not only one of the most talented composers of his generation; he was a formidable person, kind and humble," Quantic Dream said in a statement.
Corbeil's son Laurent told Polygon that his father died Friday after a six-month fight with pancreatic cancer.
Corbeil was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 and again in 2006 for his music composition on Hitler: The Rise of Evil and Human Trafficking, respectively.
His Heavy Rain score earned him the top music accolade at the 2011 British Academy Video Games Awards for Original Music.
