5 million agree to Just Dance 2

It has been fairly evident that Ubisoft has a hit on its hands with Just Dance 2 since last month, when the Wii dancing game secured third place on NPD's monthly retail chart, beating out such high-profile new releases as Gran Turismo 5 and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Today, Ubisoft provided some perspective on just how well the rhythm title is doing, announcing that Just Dance 2 has sold more than 5 million units worldwide.

A much-improved sequel to 2009's tepidly reviewed original, Just Dance 2 offers Wii gamers the chance to dance along to more than 40 music tracks across a range of genres, including R&B, disco, funk, and rock. The game accommodates up to four players at a time, all of which compete to mirror onscreen choreography. Further, Ubisoft has committed to regularly updating the title with downloadable content distributed through the Wii Shop Channel.

The Wii-exclusive Just Dance franchise also includes Just Dance Kids, which launched in November 2010. According to Ubisoft, the franchise has sold more than 10 million units worldwide combined, lifetime-to-date. The franchise is also showing increased popularity, considering the original Just Dance required four months to attain the 2-million-unit sales milestone.
